I see in my notes from ‘98 that I wasn’t happy with my final mix on "Tell Me You've Taken Another” — the vocals were quiet. I “solved” that during the mastering by giving a boost on the vocal range EQ. The result is the whole song is shrill at the top end. The cymbals really sizzle.

It’s what we’ve listened to for decades, but I think it can be better...

For 3, 6 & 7, I took my final 1998 DAT24-7 mix, and placed it back into the multi-track session. Then I mixed in the original vocals to give a level boost without making them shrill. I also got to emphasis some of the backing vocal lines that were buried originally.

This is a warmer version of the song. It’s not mastered yet. Martin will give it compression and a bit more love. I think this will sound nice on the LP!

TRACK 8 -- I did the same process for "Denoument" -- using the original DAT mixes, back into the multi-track, and doing some boosts to the vocals + violins.
