I was reminded of a Black Tape For A Blue Girl show I’d forgotten about. Julie of “Dark Night of the Soul” (on New Jersey’s WFMU) asked if she could include a track from our live radio performance on a WFMU fundraising CD. I said “Sure” and then, “Urm, what show?” She reminded me of the details:

Sam - electronics, acoustic guitar, backing vocals
Athan - vocals, occasional percussion
Pinky - vocals, acoustic guitar, viola

Checking the date I see it was a warmup before the new band played in front of an audience. Late 2011 was the end of our 10 NEUROTICS concert era; Nicki had stopped performing live, Valerie moved to Los Angeles, and Pinky Weitzman joined the band. Very few people saw this final incarnation, though I found a few videos from Projektfest’11 on youTube: www.youtube.com/results?search_query=projektfest+2011+Black+Tape+For+A+Blue+Girl

Julie sent me a .wav file of the full set; the mix is pretty dodgy. We performed “Rotten Zurich” twice, once with Athan singing and again at the end with Pinky singing. Her version is perhaps the best mix of the set. Some day I will go through and work on the file to make it as listenable as possible. I don’t have time for that today. I did some eq & compression, and rendered this mix for WFMU’s CD and also to share with you.

• You’ll note we had to remove the multiple uses of the word “fuckin’” because it was radio!
