"Some new old guitar-based songs" is a 52 minutes patron-only download of almost all unreleased/unfinished songs I wrote on the acoustic guitar (and two early version of tracks from THESE FLEETING MOMENTS). Some of them have been in past patron packages (in 2015), some of them are pieces I had forgotten even existed.

Now that TO TOUCH THE MILKY WAY is finished, I've been thinking about the first couple of these guitar tracks I wrote not long after 10 NEUROTICS; however I could never think of words for them so they languished; and then I moved to Portland and moved on to less rock-cabaret styles of music; and further they languished. I've long wanted to finish these songs, though my biggest stumbling block has been figuring out the words! Some of these got so close that I brought Brian into the studio to play drums on them. I thought that if I listened to all of them together perhaps I'd get inspired and pick four of them to finish up as an EP.

These pieces come from three different periods

2009-2010 -- Pieces started after I finished 10 NEUROTICS, when I lived in Brooklyn. Includes an instrumental version of "She's Gone."

2014-2015 -- Pieces from the early part of writing THESE FLEETING MOMENTS. (I included a mix of "Limitless" because when I heard it a few days ago, I couldn't even remember what song it was. I thought it was something I never finished, because in the album's final mix the acoustic guitar are much lower to make room for all the other instruments.)

2016+2017 -- Two songs written during TO TOUCH THE MILKY WAY

Lycia have given up their trademark sound of heavily distorted guitars, which is a pity. instead they focus on mostly melancholic acoustic guitar pop songs with (up beat!) rhythm machines, Kling Klang Piano sound and other sonic experiments which are supposed to create an ethereal atmosphere but are often bleak and repetitive and mostly not dark at all. Thus disappointing except for tracks like Rewrite, Mist and hjoe834
