December 12 2020 ---------------------------------------

Nu4 11-07-2020 — I've added Henrik's strings. I really like this! The mood is so different from the previous version, "Nu4 0920 Piano • 2-6-2020"

Nu8 12-12-2020 — I made this back in March while working on SUNWASHED EVENING FIRE. I found it on the hard drive today. It started life as a leftover ambient bit from the ASHES IN THE BRITTLE AIR-era that you heard last year. “Vol11-1 Early Ambient” blacktapeforabluegirl.bandcamp.com/track/vol11-1-early-ambient — I sent that to Jarguna & he did some reprocessing and I did some extending & processing and it became “Lhasa River circles the fading sunset > part 2” on SUNWASHED EVENING FIRE.
projektrecords.bandcamp.com/track/lhasa-river-circles-the-fading-sunset-part-2 If you cue in to around 6:02 on that track, take 22 seconds and then loop it. That’s the basis for Nu8. I did more processing, slowed it down, reversed some of the track…. how much is left from the original? Maybe some DNA. Did Jarguna play any of it? I don’t know. I don’t even remember making this! Amazing, this thing called creativity…. It's like a dream. Was that real? Did it happen? Or was I imagining it!?!

October 17 2020 ---------------------------------------

New mixes added of Nu5, Nu6, Nu7 — three tracks with cello/viola from Henrik Meierkord. I stripped back a lot of my parts, from what you hear on the previous mixes:

A Patron-only download/stream of recent music I started working on.

Hi there patrons.... Here are some new things I’m feeling very wishy-washy about. They fall into the tranche of my songs that I'd label as “stuff created between albums." Yes, they exist…. No, I cannot say they will ever be heard again. These 6 tracks are all I created for Black Tape For A Blue Girl in 2019. That's it!?! Yes, I’m beating up on myself a bit, trying to guilt myself to get working on music. I remember now! That was one of the reasons I started a Patron page: to motivate myself to spend more time creating. Yes, yes!

Here are notes on these tracks.

Nu1 - This was a structure for a Stars-sequel. Not really blown away by it, though. So it might be left in the archives.
Nu2 - NOT included. Michael Laird was in Portland, he wanted to play my acoustic guitar; it was tuned to one of my non-standard tunings. He started strumming and conceptualizing, and wanted me to record him. He said I could use it as a blacktape song, but it sounds like an Unto Ashes song to me. I just sent him the file, and he says he plans to use it.
Nu3 - This is one-take of me playing guitar. I was surprised to rediscover this as it actually sounds interesting. I think it was suppose to be a reference track so I’d remember the strumming pattern for the next day (which of course, I’ve forgotten. I wonder if I wrote down notes?)
Nu4 - I know that 30 years ago I would have said, “Yeah, definitely! I can turn this into a good song.” Then it would grow into “Chains of Color” or “Could I stay the honest one?” These days, I’m harder on myself, and say, “Meh!” and move on…
Nu5 - I could imagine this becoming a song. It captures a mood. It is one I wrote to send to a cellist I met, to give her an idea.
Nu6 - This continues on Nu5, another one for the cellist to listen to. Not as sold on it, but I think replacing the synths with live strings might make something interesting happen.
Nu7 - A piano part I played in real time then chopped up a bit, processed with delay and some backwards bits.
