about

Digging through my old cassettes in search of MESMERIZED-era out-takes for bonus material on the Kickstarter, I found these ambient tracks recorded around the time MESMERIZED was wrapping up.

The spine of the cassette says "Sam live at Tangerine Studios. Summer '87." The front says “Late summer of 1987.”

These are not Black Tape For A Blue Girl tracks. In fact #2 and #3 are songs from cassettes I released in my Florida days. Don't ask me why I was playing those songs live…

The final track sounds like it'd fit the Dungeon Synth genre, if it had some more elements added to it. Back then, I made "samples" by catching sounds in my BOSS delay pedal. Not sure what that sound was from. The rest of this release is played on my KORG Poly-61, with a little but of ENSONIQ ESQ-1

I performed “Mesozoic” live in 1985; you can hear that on this patron release: blacktapeforabluegirl.bandcamp.com/album/an-hour-of-ambience

This cassette wasn’t numbered, but it would be before #4 from late 1987, which is here: blacktapeforabluegirl.bandcamp.com/album/vol-4-5-pre-ashes-1987-cassette
