about

A portion of the track "Isotope" serves as the backing texture for Black Tape For A Blue Girl's "meditation on the skeleton" from the THESE FLEETING MOMENTS album, and within the extended version of "meditation..." on the Seelig~Rosenthal album JOURNEY TO AKTEHI.

A bit about the creation::

When I recorded the THESE FLEETING MOMENTS track "six: thirteen" in 2014, the guitar was played quite a bit faster than what you hear on the final version. Sitting with it, I realized it sounded rushed, so I slowed the pattern down. That gave me an idea: what would this sound like if I really slowed the whole track down and stretched it out into a flowing ambient drone?

First I created a 30 minute version: "stretch mix 1." Then I thought, "I can go further!" That turned into "Isotope," which intentionally is dense and lacking in fidelity, with distortion that sound almost like electric guitars (reminds me a bit of Fripp & Eno, minus the majestic lead guitar).

I liked the piece, but couldn't decide what to do with it, and then got pulled into the creation of THESE FLEETING MOMENTS. I put the track on the shelf until late in the process, when I used a portion of it as the backing to "Meditation on the skeleton." When planning the AKTEHI album, I decided to make this a giveaway with the Kickstarter.

And now that the Kickstarter has ended, it's available on its own to those of you who didn't back the project.
