Arin Aksberg is a 23 year old musician from Norway. Back in March, I released his debut, IT FLOWS BETWEEN US, on Projekt
projektrecords.bandcamp.com/album/it-flows-between-us. He’s working on his new album and sent me pieces-in-progress to check out. I asked if I could play a synth part on a track named “Homecoming Day,” I thought I could give it a little something extra.
What I’ve got for you today is a rough mix of a portion, taken from the mix on my computer. The Eq, compression, etc will be finalized by Arin in his system; this is preliminary and sounds a bit shrill. I’ve heard his next mix and it’s coming along.
The first track is an excerpt of the full song with both of us.
Of course you have no idea who is playing what part, so the second track is just my synth parts. It’s four layers of my Streichfett and one bit of Moog now and again (the descending note that starts at :43). Arin likes that my parts add a human element to the more rhythmic drive of the track. Agreed, it’s *very* human! Why? 'cause I have no idea what I’m playing. I record little lines of music over his tracks, edit out the bits I don’t like, and then add more. It’s very much adding paint to the canvas, and seeing what works and what needs to go.
I recorded my part mid-June, it’s been on my to-do list to get it to you. I’m swamped with Projekt work, wrapping up things before I take time off (starting in a week) to run the TERRACE OF MEMORIES Kickstarter and also (maybe) working on some music.
